Removing wallpaper can be a breeze
Quick and easy peel off the wallpaper
Before you go to the Bauhaus to look for wallpaper remover, first try this as much as you can with your hands. As a rule, the wallpaper can be pulled dry without great effort from the wall. But often the bottom layer of wallpaper sticks to the wall with the glue. Especially if the walls were previously painted, the peeling will be more difficult.
Before you start to remove the wallpaper, remove all decorative elements, place the furniture in the middle of the room or in an adjoining room, and place cover film on the floor.
Many people use a utility knife or other cutting tools to remove old wallpaper. The wallpaper is scratched and then soaked with water (water dissolves the paste). The cut points allow the water to penetrate faster into the wallpaper fibers. If the wallpaper is soaked well, it can be easily removed, but it is very likely that the wall underneath is damaged. Therefore, try to remove a small amount of the wallpaper in this way and if everything is ok you can apply this method to the whole wall. There are some simple home remedies that can help with peeling off wallpaper.
Soak wallpaper and prepare
Mix warm water and softener
In the beginning, mix 1/3 softener and 2/3 warm water. If the result is not satisfactory, add 1/3 softener. Apply the mixture with a paintbrush or spray liberally with a spray bottle. Let it work for 10 minutes and try to peel off the wallpaper as much as possible with a spatula, without tearing it. A great method, which also ensures a pleasant scent.
Dish soap and warm water
Degreasing detergents make it much easier to peel off the wallpaper. It is particularly effective if the walls in front of it were not painted. Add 500 ml of warm water to 30 ml of washing-up liquid. Spray the wallpaper and evenly spread the mixture with a sponge or brush. After 10 minutes, check if the wallpaper has softened. The stripping is done again with spatula or other tool.
Prepare a wallpaper remover yourself
The acetic acid softens old wallpaper
Hot water and wine vinegar
The wine vinegar is recommended for very old wallpaper. The acetic acid softens the wallpaper and dissolves the paste. Before resorting to this method, try one of the above, as the smell of vinegar is very intrusive. However, this is very effective on stubborn wallpaper. The formula here is usually 50% vinegar to 50% water. However, first add a little less vinegar 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water so that the smell is not too intense and long felt in the room. After you have soaked the wallpaper, you should wait a little longer, about 10 to 20 minutes.
